What We Believe
We at Mt Hermon Missionary Baptist Church Merced believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and serves as the record of God's revelation of Himself to mankind. We affirm that there is only one true and living God, without division of nature, essence, or being, who reveals Himself to us in three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God the Father is indeed the Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, provided for the redemption of mankind from sin and will return in power and glory to judge the world and fulfill His redemptive mission. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, exalts Christ and convicts individuals of sin, unrighteousness, and judgment. We believe that salvation involves the total redemption of the whole person and is offered freely to anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, who through His own blood, secured eternal redemption for each believer. At Mt Hermon Merced, we recognize that the church is a local body of baptized believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, united by covenant in faith and fellowship of the gospel. We observe the two ordinances of Christ and are committed to His teachings while exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in us by His Word, working diligently to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. We also uphold that Christian baptism, which we practice in our worship services Merced, is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This obedient act symbolizes the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, marking the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience where members of our church partake of the bread and fruit of the vine, remembering the death of the Redeemer and eagerly anticipating His second coming. We believe that we have been called as members of Mt Hermon Missionary Baptist Church Merced, 'A Loving and Relevant Church where the congregation is being transformed through the Word of God' (Matt. 17:1-9), which embodies our church motto.
